The Few Public Buildings

Amberly Day School

The caretakers cottage was added because I could not get the school to work without someone there, a sweet elderly man and his two dogs live there, he has a garden and is somewhat of an artist. His name is Lars and all the children adore him.

Amberly Mechantile and shops

Owned and operated by the Amberly family.

Swensen and Sons Freight and Coach Company

If you want to order something from Boston, Portland, or England this is where you would pick it up, or if you wanted to ship something the same. Or if you want to take the coach to Rivers Edge you could purchase a ticket here. Or if you came by coach to Amberly here is where you would be. A clerk would tell you there is an Inn right across the street and down a bit.

Timberlane Brothers Furniture Company

Owned and operated by the three nephews of Whitney Timberlane, Cass, Kane, and Keith.
They purchased the old freight house from Oly Swensen, a few years after the Swensens had the new brick building made.

Amberly Meeting Hall

The town meeting hall often served many functions, including church, gatherings, meetings, dances, and even school. I decided that an elderly lady by the name of Ilsa Dutcher would over see this building, and live in the upstairs with her two cats

Spread out before the meeting hall is the town common, in good weather farmers come to sell produce, and young people meet and chat.

Amberly Church

The church was the first building built by Seth Martin's father and Clive Martin's oldest brother, stands just off the common. Clive lives in the vickerage with his dog Midnight, who he purchased from Mrs. Timberlane, to drive unwanted livestock off the church grounds, and keep rabbits out of his garden. He holds services and weddings as well as functions as a groundskeeper.
