Coryn is the chief's son but that does not mean another will be chosen as chief, Saban is head man, Toma is head horseman. Either man could be chosen over Coryn by the council but he is the head of hunting, and that is an important job.

Daughter Dayglesha (day-glee-shay) and her son Tarkan (Tar-can) from a joining that was broken. She is looking for a new mate. As with tradition she lives with her parents and any mate she chooses will move to their lodge.
Whitehorse Family
An old family, with great respect and honor. Saban is the head of the family, his is joined with Lyrah and the family is made up of their two children and his brother Kivak. Saban is head man, which is quit an honor he is in charge of keeping law and peace in the village, and tries not to bother Chief Crono or head of council Spring unless the problem needs to be brought before the council.

Another old family, many secret rituals and medicines have passed down from mother to daughter, father to son.
Lunan is the village medicine man, his mate Saffee is a daughter of a medicine woman, her family the River family is fairly new to Makobla, her brother and she came here with her mother after some bad white men had attacked their settlement sending their band splinted in many directions.

Rivers Family
A family of top fishers, who know what fish and what time of year is best to catch them along with bait and different methods. Lokan who joined the family by his marriage to Daria is not a fisher at all, although he enjoys fishing. He is a dog trainer and breeder. He trains dogs to keep horses near camp and to hunt. Also to raise alarm if strangers approach. Most families keep a dog or two but they go to Lokan for advice on training.

Fire Hair aka Frenchie aka Pierre Patrick O'Mally Dupree, half Irish half French son of his trader father Luise, and cousin to Maryetta Dupree Amberly. Pierre has a wife who comes from the Meryn family Tarah's sister Riannah, they have two children.
