New Years Evie

Chapter Ten
January 1966

Evie Gets What She Wants

Back in Rivervale it was well after midnight, and Sheila was greeting Tess as they returned from the party they had gone to.

Sheila smiled, she really liked Tess the best of anyone in Evie's family.

"How was Richard?" Tess asked.

Sheila smiled at the baby, I was just changed him and am going to put him in his crib.

"I can do that, Tess said taking her son.

"He is really the best baby," Sheila said smiling.

"Yes I think so but I am his mother," Tess laughed.

"No he is very good, I have sat for some real brats," Sheila laughed.

I am suprised Evie is not back by now," Tess said.

"She and her girlfriends probably had a pj party," Charles laughed, from the next room.

Something about that did not sound right to Sheila but she took the sitting money and said,"Oh I thought she had a date with Reginald."

"You were mistaken dear, is ten enough?" Tess asked.

Sheila smiled, not only was Richard a dream to sit with Tess was generous.

When she got home she told Marla what she thought, things were not as they seemed, Evie had told her one thing and her brother another. The Kentlands wanted her to go out with Reginald.

"Call your friends," Marla suggested.

"Mick was supposed to be going to the party at Hotel Calhoun," Sheila said, first calling Valerie, she was not home no one was. Then she tried Liz.

"Oh Sheila hope you are feeling better, not to worry you didn't miss much, it was not Chris's best party . . ." Liz started.

"Wait, I thought Chris's party was canceled and I am feeling fine, I had to babysit Evie's nephew," Sheila said trying not to get angry, Liz was just the messanger.

"You are kidding," Liz said, "I assumed you were ill, I knew you wouldn't have missed it for no reason."

"No, what happened at the party? Who was there?" Sheila asked suddenly feeling very suspicious.

"Well a lot of people I didn't know older people and college kids, and some friends of Chris's, Mick brought Rona but he as much as ignored her, he seemed very down. Scott got drunk off his buns," Liz giggled, "He was kind of funny and cute."

"Wait, Evie told me she was going to Bayview with Reginald and Mick was going to that party at Calhouns?" Sheila said smelling a hundred and five pound rat named Evie.

"I think he was going there later, a bunch of them, Boone, Jube, and the others I don't know very well were talking about it." Liz said, "Look Sheila I don't know what is going on but could you call me tomorrow I am getting dirty looks from my mom."

"Sure, thanks Liz, talk to you tomorrow," Sheila sighed.

Next she called Hotel Calhoun and asked for Denee' Asher, she liked Denee' and thought she was an honest hard working girl that would tell the truth.

"Hi Denee, do you know if Mick is there, this is Sheila," Sheila said. "No he isn't Sheila, I think his brother got pretty drunk so he stayed at Chris's isn't that right Jube?" Denee' asked. "Yeah baby he did," Jube said looking puzzled.

"Thank's Denee," Sheila said, wondering if her suspicions were true, then she looked at her sister.

"Take my car, new snow tires," Marla said, "Go after him, I wish I had of gone after Zap after dad ran him off."

"Thank you sis you are the best." Sheila said, she knew where Chris's family had a cabin up on Crystal lake she had been there many times as well as Poldarkes and even had applied for summer camp counciler at the new Aglesha Bay Summer Camp up there.

Meanwhile Mick was kind of dozing not feeling any pain when he felt someone cuddle up beside him, her lips pressed against his, and heady perfume filled his nostrils.

Evie marveled at how soft Mick's skin was against hers, and yet under that skin lay hard muscles that rippled when he moved slightly. He kissed her back not realizing who it was not even fully aware of where he was.

Trembling and tingling in those secret places no one had ever made her tingle Evie pressed her body against his under the covers and he moaned, and his hands with those work hardened callouses that felt more like leather against her skin as he ran them down her body. It was not unpleasant, his lips were against hers and suddenly she let out a little cry as she realized what was happening, and she did not resist him, as he made love to her for the first time.

Scott awoke when Evie cried out in pain or surprise, and felt strange, and then he remembered where he was, and vaguely Mick telling him if he got cold to come to bed.

He staggered first to the bathroom and then into the room, realizing moaning was coming from the room.

"Bro you here?" Scott asked, fuzzy headed and not really sure of what he was seeing.

"Oh God," Evie cried.

Mick did not hear Scott, and even if he had he could not stop nature.

Still not dawing on Scotts foggy alcohole soaked brain what was happening, he took a step closer, was that really Evie in bed with Mick?

Evie would would never do more then let him chastely kiss her and hold her hand and maybe put an arm around her and dance close. No it could not be, tell me it wasn't. Scott thought wildly trying to keep from screaming or falling.

It was he saw her and heard her moan with passion as his brother . . . oh god, my girl, she is . . . he ran from the room.

He ran outside, out into the snow, he wanted to die, his brother was with his Evie, his heart was breaking. He staggered into the snowy night to die.

Sheila almost hit him with Marla's car.

She jumped out of the car and ran to him not thinking to pull on her coat.

"No let me die," Scott cried not knowing who was tugging at him.

"Come on lets get you out of these clothes and into something warm.

"No not in there no I will go in your car Sheila . . . just not there," Scott wailed.

"Are you drunk?" she asked.

"Just let me die," he sobbed.

She put him in her car, he seemed to tired to resist her attempts in that direction.

Sheila went inside and saw Mick and Evie together. She slammed the door, Evie jumped up and grabbed her nightie, and put it on.

"You tramp!" Sheila said scowling at her ex-best friend.

Suddenly it it made sense why Scott did not want her to go back in there, but she had insisted on finding his coat or a blanket.

"Sheila," Evie gasped.

Mick struggeled to wake up he felt fuzzy headed and not himself at all.

"That was Sheila and she is very angry with me," Mick said sounding almost like a child.

"Who cares, oh Mick I love you," Evie said.

Mick looked at her and sudden realization came back to him, how had Sheila gotten here? Where was Scott, he had some hazy memory of Scott talking to him, but it almost had been dream like.

"What is going on?" Chris asked.

"I don't know Sheila was here and took Scott with her they were fighting outside," Val said.

"Evie? Mick?" Chris called.

Evie looked at Mick with a frightened expression, as Micks expression went from one of a tender lover to someone who was furious enough to commit murder.

"Here," Evie called suddenly afraid Mick would turn on her.

"YOU! You did this, you planned it somehow, what did you put in my drink?" Mick accused.

"Oh my," Liz said, realizing what had happened.

"Nothing," Evie said.

"Can I borrow your car?" Mick asked, thinking Scott would be devestated.

"Let's take mine," Evie said thinking she had to explain this to him.

"It won't start," Mick said eyeing her suspiciously.

"I remembered something mom told me to try . . ." Evie started.

Mick started to dress.

"You lying little scheming bitch get that car started I am driving us back to Rivervale," Mick snarled.

Evie started to cry her plan was falling apart, and she cried, "All I wanted was to be with you."

"God I can't believe her," Val said, thinking she had aways thought Evies little tricks and manipulations were funny now she had gone to far.

"Mick we are here if you need us," Chris sighed, he had never liked Evie, he had only put up with her because she was in the crowd.

"Thanks man," Mick said, then walked out the door.

"Wait," Evie cried, not realizing she had the keys and knew how to reset the car so it would start, and he couldn't leave without her.

She was so upset she left Tess's fur and followed him out to the car in just her clothes.

All the way down the mountian to Rivervale Evie cried and pleaded with Mick until she was almost hoarse, he just kept saying things about how much his brother worshipped her and how could she do this. He would not stop blaming her. Couldn't he see they were made to be together? Evie wondered.

Mick was silent and glowering most of the time other telling her to slow down or how to drive or where to turn.

But then she got mad and said, "You took advantage of me."

"I don't call some naked chick in my bed kissing me taking advantage! In fact, if anyone was taken advantage of it was me." Mick said angrily, as she drove up to the garage apartment following his directions.

"Mick I really love you, and I did this all wrong please . . ." Evie cried.

"Go home if you have one, you are not wanted or needed here," Mick said getting out of the car and rushing into the garage apartment.

Evie started crying and realized if she went in now he would just be angrier with her, and Sheila and Scott would be there as well so she left.

"I hate you," Scott wheezed from his bed.

"He is very sick Mick, if I hadn't have came along he would have died," Sheila said.

"Sheila I am sorry, I know that means little to you, but Evie planned this," Mick said ignoring Scotts threats.

"But you didn't have to go along, honestly Mick I thought you loved me," Sheila said trying not to cry.

"He don't love no one all he wants is someone in his bed," Scott cried.

"You were breaking up with me Evie said . . . oh no, I believed her," Mick said seeing how trapped he was.

"I am now," Sheila said.

Mick went in to see Scott he looked bad, sick and hung over.

"I never want to see you again, get out of here," Scott shouted.

"It's over," Sheila said, sitting down wearily in a chair waiting for the chicken soup to cook.

Mick sighed, he could not blame her, and he looked at her, "Do you need anything?"

"No, but thanks," Sheila said, she believed him but at the same time she knew it was over she wanted to be here for Scott now, she didn't know where that would go he was so hurt but he needed someone.

"I am going to go. See if you can get him calmed down, Julio will come round in the morning, you can send him to the store if you need anything," Mick said, then left.

Sheila wanted to ask him where he was going, but she decided it was best if she didn't know and Scott was liable to take it the wrong way and get upset again.

When Mick came out Evie was gone and he was glad, he wondered, if she even knew how badly she had turned Scotts world upside down, as well as his own, the little bitch.
