The In Between Years
All right so I was a bit bitter at being shuffled off to school with commoners, I felt my mother ignored me.

There had to be more to life then this. I was fed up with my mothers lovers and my little sister who was sickly, also I was blamed for that.
My mother had one lover who was very interesting, I don't know why but I actually liked him. There was something different about him then the other boring old turds she usually brought around.

It was always run along Lewis. So run I did, I decided now that I was thirteen I would not indure school a moment longer. I was always tall for my age so everyone always assumed I was older.
I wish I could understand what I felt towards Langly it was part admiration, because he was different then other men.

Or was it his swauveness and attractive good looks, usually I paid little attention to other males, but he was fascinating, and he always had kind words while others just wished me gone.
Lewis Devon became a hustler, always ready to seperate other youth from their brass.
One day I ran into my old friend Edward. He told me he had an idea for a business venture but needed a spot of capital and a partner.

His father owned several shops always there were at least one or two vacant, so the two of us with my money, his place, and his sister and her friend we started an entertainment business.
At first it was mostly Emily her friend Nan, Edward and myself living at businesses eating cold foods and having a pretty good time really.

It was all good fun, we had some low priced parties to start with, kissing girls and drinking a bit of ale and playing cards were making money.
"Lewis we could really make money if we allowed the boys to bed us, but we have never done that, we want you to teach us," Nan said smiling.
"Really I think I can do that," Lewis said thoughtfully.

I had watched my mother several times with her lovers, and I had been wanting to bed a girl for sometime but found other ways to get some relief.
Nan did not have to ask me twice, but after I bedded her she cried, said and I thought maybe I had done it wrong.

But some kissing seemed to make it so much better.
In no time Nan was craving Lewis as much as he craved her.

Lewis couldn't wait to finish the games for the night and go up to her bed. Emily wanted her turn and she was a bit better.
After that I had both girls regularly, and I liked it and so did they.
All day I was my own master bedding the girls, and selling kisses and ale to school boys.

My mothers home seemed to be drearier and drearier.
One day I decided not to go home, just to live in the business, one day things were going good, we where starting to get a few older men that really had money to pay for a night with a sweet young thing.

"You need more girls, you have three beds, two girls I get tired of waiting," A man complained.
We couldn't convince Edwards other sisters to come and work for us, so I set about finding girls that would enjoy our rather unique life style. I did not think that what we were doing was becoming a brothel. Gone were the schoolboys and the innocent games.

I found a girl Lydia that was both willing and able. How was I to know she was trouble with a capital T.

Everything went very well indeed until Lydia fell in love with Edward. It was rather odd it was all right for her to sleep with costumers and me, but Edward kissed Nan for bringing in a rich over nighter and she got jealous.

Nan and Emily complained about Lydia and asked me if I couldn't find someone else, I should have heeded their words and got rid of Lydia. To be fair I was very niave to the ways of women. I thought making out with the girls would appease them.

The girls had to do most the work, not only pleasing the men, but cooking and cleaning, while Edward I raked in the cash and made sure no one went away displeased.

A good night money wise found me asleep on the couch in our cramped front room, we had even started paying Edwards father a bit of rent so we wouldn't have to move. Edwards father was pleased Edward was making his way but he had no idea what Edward was doing.
Edward brought in another girl a blond named Carry, this sent Lydia into a fury, and though we didn't know it was the beginning of the end of Devon and Baldwin Entertainment.

She waited patiently serving food and catering to our customers like a good girl but when Lydia chanced on a policemen she chatted him up.

Together they plotted how the officer and a few of his fellows would get into the club and arrest us.
Nan knew something was up and had I listened to her things might have changed, but sooner or later we would have been caught. Nan was pregnant and she had decided it was probably mine or Edwards child, but she chose Edward so when the police came.
I was arrested along with Carry, Edward his sister and Nan escaped.
My father somehow found out that I had been jailed and bailed me out, I never knew what happened to poor Carry the true innocent in the whole thing. I became to worried about my own fate to give it much thought.
"Lewis you will keep your mouth shut and do as you are told, you mess up this and I will not bail you out again, your poor dear mother has worried her self sick over you, you are a disgrace," he said, and that was all he said to me on the long carriage ride.

My father was not amused when he came to fetch me. He took me straight over to a man he knew that had a potters and told me I would now work for him and live here.
I was to be an apprentice potter, having honest work would make a man out of me.
I think my father must have bought the papers on the place because the man fell all over himself for my father once he saw the papers my father had.
